Fall 2021 Sanctuary Salon Concert

Pining for even more live performances with SFEMS? Join us for a special Sanctuary Salon concert, showcasing some of our local artists who have made the Bay Area synonymous with early music!

Highlights of the program include two scrumptious bites of J.S. Bach and Telemann with the Bertamo Trio (Letitia Berlin, recorders; David Morris, viola da gamba; Yuko Tanaka, harpsichord); French delights from Rameau’s opéra-ballet Les surprises de l’Amour in the graceful hands of Harmonia Felice (Amy Brodo and Roy Whelden, violas da gamba; Jon Mendle, theorbo); and a rondo by C.P.E. Bach and Beethoven’s “Variations on Judas Maccabaeus” from the Valley of the Moon Music Festival (Tanya Tomkins, cello; Eric Zivian, fortepiano).

We will also hear the future of early music with soprano Hayeon Kim and violist Emily Hwang, two young musicians from the Junior Bach Festival, a Berkeley institution for seven decades.
