Join us for Early Music Open Mic Night in the East Bay. This is your opportunity to perform early music in a friendly cabaret style setting. Albany Consort and Cologne University Choir
As part of Cologne University Choir’s March California tour, the group is visiting the Bay Area for a few days of collaboration with local ensembles including the Peninsula’s Albany Consort. Choir director Michael Ostrzyga and Consort harpsichordist Jonathan Salzedo started discussing this possibility soon after they met performing together in San Diego last Spring. In recognition of Bach’s Birthday, the musicians will delight the ears with Bach’s brilliant and beautiful motet Jesu, meine Freude and Bach’s D Major Harpsichord Concerto. The program also includes stunning works by Hildegard, Brahms and Shawn Kirchner.

The Piano Concerto in G features fortepianist Karen Rosenak; the Concerto in Eb for Keyed Trumpet features Jonathan Impett, a specialist in period trumpets. Surprise guests will join the quartet and soloists for the Symphony #100 in D, “Military.”

Live at Mission Blue
Jacques Ogg and Elisabeth Wright perform music of F. Couperin, Tomkins, J.S. Bach, and W.F. Bach Two internationally acclaimed harpsichordists collaborate in a program of French, English, and German music for harpsichord duet. Few places are better suited to hear the clarity and brilliant interplay of these instruments, as Mission Blue Center is silently nestled on the slopes of San Bruno Mountain. The Elizabethan charm of Thomas Tomkins, the ornate elegance of François Couperin, and by two of the greatest keyboardists of their respective generations–Johann Sebastian Bach and eldest son Wilhelm Friedemann, recapture the spirited interplay of recreational music-making for which these works were first created.
