On Sunday following Thanksgiving the Cantata Collective invite you to their second free concert of Bach cantatas at St Mary Magdalen Church in Berkeley. Featured will be countertenor Reginald Mobley singing Cantatas 54, Widerstehe doch der Sünde, and 170 Vergnügte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust.
Praised for his “crystalline diction and pure, evenly produced tone” by the Miami Herald, Reggie is a longtime member of Seraphic Fire and has appeared with the Oregon Bach Festival, Early Music Vancouver, Apollo’s Fire, Portland Baroque Orchestra, and many other early music ensembles at home and abroad. He is also a frequent performer in musical theater, cabaret, and jazz clubs.
Supported by their Founders and Members, and the donations of those attending their performances, the Cantata Collective is dedicated to bringing Bach’s music to Bay Area music lovers free of admission charge.
The concert is at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, in St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2005 Berryman Street, just one block away from the Gourmet Ghetto. The Church is fully accessible, and there is ample parking in the Church lot. But plan to arrive early, for the pews at the first concert were fully occupied.
