“A Chanticleer Christmas” The 12-member a cappella vocal ensemble performs seasonal works old, new, and familiar. The program follows the journey of the wise men, across the ages and the world. Fellow pilgrims are a motley group of shepherds and onlookers–Welsh, Huron, Indian, English, Americans of all origins–reveling in the wonder, joy, and peace that the Christmas story brings. Candle-lit Gregorian chant gives way to music by Morales, Gonzalez, Victoria, Poulenc, Sweelinck, and traditional carols, gospel and spirituals.

Cappella Romana
“A Byzantine Christmas,” a program featuring Byzantine Chants in Greek, Arabic, and English. The concert will be directed John Michael Boyer, Protopsaltis of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco and Cappella Romana’s Associate Music Director. He is joined by Lebanon-born soloist Deacon John (Rassem) El Massih and a choir of men and women Byzantine cantors from across North America. “Lessons and Carols” We join our host as Artists-in-Residence, The Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in San Francisco, for our annual Service of Lessons & Carols as we re-create the service that originated in 1918 at King’s College (England) celebrating the season as well as the end of World War I that will include many opportunities for you to sing along to favorites of the season with us. Not only is it a free event (no tickets or reservations are required) but one of our most popular offerings, so be sure to come early to get a good seat—don’t miss it!
