Early Music Open Mic Night
Join us for Early Music Open Mic Night in the East Bay, 4th Wednesday of every month. This is your opportunity to perform early music in a friendly cabaret style setting. Instrumentalists, singers, soloists, groups, students, youngsters, professionals — all are welcome! Please email [email protected] with the date you’d like to perform. Time slots will be up to 15 minutes, and there will be six time slots on each night. A harpsichord/organ as well as a piano will be available on site. Food and drinks will be provided.

Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, the University of California Berkeley Baroque Ensemble, and the New York Baroque Dance Company
Free baroque dance and music workshop for students and the community. Attendees will have the chance to dance to live French Baroque music from Rameau’s Le Temple de la Gloire, performed by members of PBO playing side-by-side with the University Baroque Ensemble directed by Christine Brandes. The brilliant New York Baroque Dance Company Founder and Co-Director Catherine Turocy will lead the exhilarating workshop onstage! No prior dance experience is necessary. It’s okay to sign up to dance or to observe. Please click HERE to reserve your seat on a first come, first served basis. Please be advised that Turocy’s workshop at UC Berkeley two years ago was filled within 24 hours.

“Musical Crossroads” Cheryl Ann Fulton, harps; Imamyar Hasanov, kamancha; Peter Maund, percussion; Laura Risk, fiddle & baroque violin; William Skeen, viola da gamba; David Tayler, lute; and Hanneke van Proosdij, recorder & harpsichord, perform an innovative program of Western and non-Western music and works from the 14th through 18th centuries. The program will include works from America, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ireland, Bulgaria, Quebec, Scotland, and Slovenia, as well as a new work by Dutch-American female composer Hanneke van Proosdij. This concert is part of Voices of Music’s “Women in Music Project.”

The Junior Bach Festival presents Catherine Turocy
Catherine Turocy leads The Junior Bach Festival’s Annual Workshop, “Running Bach—The Quick Dances of the Bourée and Gigue.” New York Baroque Dance Company’s Artistic Director Catherine Turocy and musicians from Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra will guide participants in an active exploration of Bach’s dances. No previous dance experience is necessary, and it will be okay just to watch and listen. The Junior Bach Festival’s Annual Workshop explores an aspect of Bach’s music; working knowledge of baroque dance is essential to musical appreciation.
