Presenting a program of selections from Book 8 of Monteverdi’s Madrigals of Love and War. Following the premiere, this performance will be available to view on demand for three months, from June 4 through September 1, 2021.

Calextone—A Pandemic Pentameron: Music of 14th-Century Italy
The medieval specialists of Calextone will weave together visual art, music, and the written word to resurrect the world of 14th-century Italy, using Giovanni Boccaccio’s Decameron—one hundred tales of wit, eroticism, tragedy, and much else—as the basis for exploring three major surviving sources of music from the time: the Squarcialupi Codex, the Rossi Codex, and British Library Add. MS 29987. Concert will be available on demand after livestream through July 5.

Cal Bach—Bach Cantata Workshop: Cantata 6, Bleib bei uns, denn es will Abend werden  
Join artistic director Paul Flight, CalBach singers, soloists, and guests to sing, listen, and learn together. We’ll practice sections of the choral movements, learn about the cantata from Paul Flight, and enjoy solos from our acclaimed quartet of soloists. Duration: 75 minutes.
