The biennial Berkeley Festival and Exhibition—a week-long musical banquet sponsored by SFEMS and Early Music America—is less than two months away! This year’s Festival offers a very full eight days of concerts. Fourteen Main Stage events exploring and celebrating our musical heritage, from the joy and poignancy of medieval song and dance to the intricate depths of Johann Sebastian Bach’s motets, make this year’s Feast especially rich. Eight of these concerts will be BFX, West Coast, or US debuts by some of the world’s most distinguished exponents of historical performance. Early Music America once again will present its Young Performers Festival: six concerts showcasing the next generation of great artists from conservatories and universities around the country. EMA also will present the beloved Early Music Exhibition, featuring the wares and talents of instrument builders, publishers, and other service providers. On top of all this, the Festival “Fringe” will offer dozens of self-produced concerts by artists from near and far.
The Festival brochure will be in your mailbox within a few days. But you can download a copy now and and order tickets early for the best possible seats at all events.
