Noontime Concerts
The Albany Consort is celebrating Bach’s Birthday! We only need a flimsy excuse to perform Bach’s music, and the great composer’s birthday definitely qualifies. Our program features two of his most stunning virtuoso concertos: Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, with its extended harpsichord cadenza, and the brilliant Violin Concerto in E Major. Completing the full program we include three sets of variations: Purcell’s Chaconne in g minor, Geminiani’s La Follia and Muffat’s Ciacona. For this occasion, the Albany Consort consists of Jonathan Salzedo, harpsichord; Marion Rubinstein, voice flute/organ; Laura Rubinstein-Salzedo, Caitlin Cribbs, Holly Piccoli, Katie Hagen violin/viola; Frédéric Rosselet, cello; and Roy Whelden, violone.

Five Fantastic Flutes
Come get your Louis the 15th on! Boismortier was the first composer in history to write for the unique combination of five solo baroque flutes. The program also includes the popular London Trios by Joseph Haydn written in 1794. San Francisco Renaissance Voices
We are delighted to once again host the internationally-renowned choreographer, performer and teacher of Baroque dance, Philippa Waite for a Baroque Dance Workshop; this workshop is LOW-IMPACT and designed for both the novice and experienced dancer. This workshop will include instruction in some of the more typical dance steps used in the main Baroque dance rhythms e.g., sarabande, bourée and menuet and will focus on using these steps to enhance Country Dances of the period found in sources such as Thomas Bray’s Country Dances (1699) and various editions of Playford’s The Dancing Master. Experienced students will be taught more complex step variations, however, the emphasis will be on the style, technique and performance and not on the ability to memorize them.
