Alliance Francaise Silicon Valley presents the acclaimed San Francisco-based baroque ensemble performing an all-French program featuring vocal and instrumental works by François Couperin, Michel Pignolet de Montéclair, André Campra and others. The ensemble will feature two popular and well-known singers in the field of Early Music: Rita Lily, soprano, and Daniel Pickens-Jones, baritone. Ms. Lily will perform Nicolas Bernier’s’ cantata Le Caffé, a delightful ode to the wonders of coffee that antedates Johann Sebastian Bach’s famous “Coffee Cantata.” Daniel Pickens-Jones will join Ms. Lilly to perform Montéclair’s expressive cantata Tircis et Climene. Also included in the program will be Le Tombeau de Monsieur de Lully by Jean-Féry Rebel, as well as other instrumental works.

East Bay Recorder Society presents its annual workshop for recorders (intermediate to advanced levels) at the Point Bonita YMCA in the Marin Headlands, with beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific Ocean, and San Francisco. This year’s featured instructors and coaches include Adam Gilbert, Frances Feldon, Peter Maund, Judith Linsenberg, Greta Haug-Hryciw, Michelle Levy, Rebecca Molinari, and Glen Shannon. First United Methodist Church of Fremont presents Jonathan Salzedo in a free benefit harpsichord recital. There is no admission charge and all are welcome. A free-will offering may be made (via donation jar near the door) and 100% of the proceeds will benefit SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments), a non-profit organization which provides shelter and assistance to victims of domestic violence.
