Second Sundays Concert Series
“Ecstasies and Anguish” Varja Voices, Karen Clark, Director, will perform selections from their just-released CD, O Eterne Deus: Music of Hildegard von Bingen (on the Music&Arts label). St. Hildegard von Bingen’s music, fearlessly expressing her ecstatic visions and feminine theology, is undergoing an enormous revival which is splendidly brought to life in the rapturous performances by the seven members of Vajra Voices. In this program Vajra Voices exhibits the contrasting exuberant free-verse chant of the 12th century St. Hildegard von Bingen with the intricate 14th century polyphony of Guillaume de Machaut. A soaring evening to culminate this series!
