Chivalry Today Educational Program is seeking musicians to be part of a small campus medieval history faire on March 24, 2020.
The Chivalry Today Educational Program coordinates multi-station history faire events for middle and high schools throughout California. On March 24, there will be a history faire on the campus of Benicia Middle School, including demonstrations of knights in armor, falconry, and blacksmithing, and Chivalry Today is seeking a small ensemble of musicians to play, and give a presentation on medieval music of the 14th and 15th centuries.
The day’s format will include four 20- to 25-minute presentations/performances of medieval music to student groups of between 70 and 100 people. The members of the ensemble will need to give a brief introduction to the pieces they will be playing and the instruments they will be using, and then perform two or three musical pieces from the period, and address student questions, as time allows.
Performers will need to be able to wear and perform in historically appropriate medieval garb. Compensation for taking part in the day’s event will be $250 per player.
Interested performers should contact Chivalry Today’s program director Scott Farrell at [email protected], or call/text 619-742-2315.
