Tish Berlin will be offering new classes in November and December. The classes take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from November 12 through December 17, at Tish’s home in Albany.
The first class, “Sightreading Smorgasbord,” is for intermediate recorder players. It’s designed to improve your ability to sightread by immersion The class will play through a variety of pieces, from easy to moderately difficult, tailored toward the people who attend each class. You’ll get lots of tips and tricks to keep going when you lose your place, and have fun in the process. The class runs from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. and requires a minimum enrollment of 4 to a maximum of 7 participants. This is a drop-in class; come to as many sessions as you like. Cost js $150 for the full course, or $30 per class if paying per class.
The second class, “Holiday Music Rehearsals and Performance,” meets the same days, from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. and requires a minimum enrollment of 4 to a maximum of 8. Participants will prepare a program of Christmas carols, Hannukah songs, and movements from Christmas cantatas, to perform for a local retirement facility on December 22. This is not a drop-in class; students must commit to the full session. Singers as well as instrumentalists are welcome. Tuition is $150.
The third class, “Sightreading Smorgasbord for Upper Intermediate to Advanced Recorder and Viola da Gamba Players,” meets Wednesdays, November 13 and 20, December 4 and 11, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The curriculum and approach will be similar to the Tuesday class but with moderately difficult to difficult music. This is also a drop-in class, with a cost of $30 per session or $100 for all four.
