San Francisco Early Music Society Presents Pallade Musica
Pallade square
Winners of the 2012 Early Musica America Baroque Music Competition, Pallade Musica (Tanya LaPerrière, violin; Elinor Frey, viola da gamba; Estaban La Rotta, theorbo; Mylène Bélanger, harpsichord & organ) make their West Coast debut performing “A mio modo: Stile Moderno to Stylus Phantasticus.” The 17th century saw the rise of purely instrumental music and the exploration and expression of human emotions through music in ways never before heard. Pallade Musica follows these developments from the Stile Moderno of early 17th-c. Italy to the dramatic and often erratic Stylus Phantasticus that took root in Germany toward the end of century. Pallade Musica’s program features music of Dario Castello, H.I.F. Biber, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelink, Dietrich Buxtehude, Bellerofonte Castaldi, G.A. Pandolfo Meali, and Angelo Maria Fiorè.
