SFEMS Medieval Renaissance Workshop
Faculty Concert Every summer, the San Francisco Early Music Society offers six weeks of workshops on historical music from the Middle Ages through the Classical era and beyond. Students of all ages and at all levels have the chance to study historical performance with the faculty of superb musicians SFEMS brings from around the world. This year’s Medieval/Renaissance Workshop celebrates music with no name—both works by anonymous composers of the Middle Ages and Renaissance and works called Missa Sine nomine (“Mass Without a Name”), masses built on a song whose identity remains unknown. Performers include Adam Bregman, sackbut, winds & reeds; Karen Clark, voice; Adam Gilbert, recorder & double reeds; Rotem Gilbert, recorders & reeds; Bianca Hall, voice; Shira Kammen, vielle & fiddle; Malachai Komanoff Bandy, viol; David Morris, viol; Mary Springfels, viol and vielle.
