“Castle, Court and Chamber: Harpsichords at Home” What do nightingales, wretched lovers, and spinach in one’s teeth have in common? All will be part of SFCA’s season finale: sacred and profane, old and new, music for the spiritual enhancement and entertainment of both royalty and regular folk. The program features baroque and 20th/21st century composers famous and anonymous, including Bach, Handel, Kogler, Hensel, Mendelssohn, Clara & Robert Schumann, Daniel Afonso, Alice Parker, Schütz, and world premieres by Composer-in-Residence Jean Ahn and Composer-Not-in-Residence Robinson McClellan. As part of the SF Choral Artists’ annually recurring SFCA+1 program, the choir will be joined by internationally-known harpsichordist Jillon Stoppels Dupree and cellist Paul Hale. Together and separately they offer baroque and contemporary pieces that are rarely heard, juxtaposed to highlight both their similarities and differences.
