SFEMS Baroque Workshop
“Wars, Conquests, and Beheadings—Court Music in England, France, Germany and Italy” Workshop Faculty Concert featuring Rita Lilly (soprano), Drew Minter (countertenor), Bruce Dickey (cornetto), Nathaniel Cox (cornetto), Linda Pearse (bass sackbut), Clea Galhano (recorder), Anna Marsh (bassoon), Sand Dalton (oboe), Sandra Miller (traverso), David Wilson (Baroque violin), William Skeen (cello), and Peter Sykes (organ). Whether it be the “Sun King,” Louis XIV of France, Charles II and James II of England, or the Gonzagas of Mantua, rulers and their court life provide fascinating ground for engagement. Featured composers of this program include G.F. Handel, J.H. Schein, François Couperin, Marin Marais, Girolamo Frescobaldi, and Henry Purcell. Please join us as our illustrious and internationally acclaimed faculty performers join for an evening of music that will linger in heart, soul, and mind.

SFEMS Music Discovery Workshop & Youth Collegium
Final concert, theater production, and potluck. Students from the SFEMS Music Discovery Workshop & Youth Collegium perform music and comedy from the Renaissance and baroque eras, featuring works from the French court of Louis XIV and the Commedia dell’arte, including music for Lully’s comedic ballet Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, complete with a Turkish March, Spanish air, and other character pieces.
