Local favorites The New Esterházy Quartet, joined by eminent musicologist and cellist Elizabeth Le Guin, guide us through a program that reinvents the Classical ‘canon’ including works by Maddalena Laura Lombardini, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, José Maurício Nunes Garcia, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Florence Price.

Tactus SF: CounterCulture—Music of the Marginalized
A concert of Renaissance music written by people on the fringes of society. Featuring the music of ethnic and religious minorities (Lusitano, Rossi, Byrd), some of the first women to have their music published (Assandra, Aleotti, Casulana), immigrants and indigenous peoples in the New World (Zumaya, Franco, Lienas, don Franco), and convicted criminals (Phinot, Gombert, Gesualdo), we celebrate the voices of the marginalized and oppressed.

Cost: Suggested donation: $20 in person, $5 livestream of Sunday concert (no one turned away for lack of funds).
