Schola Cantorum’s 50th-anniversary “Messiah Sing.”

This Time, It’s The Whole Thing

gregory-waitBring your voices and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Schola Cantorum’s sing-along of Handel’s beloved Messiah, Monday, December 19 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. For this special occasion, all who attend will have the rare opportunity to sing, or listen to, the entire work, uncut, conducted by Music Director Gregory Wait, and accompanied by Sinfonia Schola Cantorum.

The nativity part is the most well-known, and sung, part of Messiah. To familiarize audience participants with the lesser-known movements, Schola is offering a “Messiah Sing Workshop” on Saturday, December 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Shoup Park Garden House, 400 University Ave, in Los Altos. This sneak-peak will include a historical discussion of the Messiah given by musicologist Ioanida Costache, comparative recordings of the piece, and a rehearsal led by Gregory Wait.

Advance ticket prices for the 50th anniversary “Messiah Sing” are $31 for adults, $23 for students and groups of 10 or more. Day of performance ticket prices are $41. Tickets may be purchased at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts Ticket Office at 500 Castro Street, by phone at 650-903-6000, or online at www.MVCPA.com.

Admission for the “Messiah Sing Workshop” is $30. To reserve, call 650-254-1700, or visit www.ScholaCantorum.org.
