SFEMS will hold its Annual Members’ Meeting on Wednesday, October 5, from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m., at The Musical Offering, 2430 Bancroft Way in Berkeley. All SFEMS members are cordially invited to attend.
Last year’s 40th anniversary season and the 14th biennial Berkeley Festival are achievements worthy of celebration. So come, celebrate, and help shape our future! This is your chance to meet your Board, express your thoughts and concerns, and most important, nominate new Directors for the coming year. We especially encourage our members to consider joining the Board.
The recently completed Festival was filled with artistic triumphs, any one of which would have been the standout event of a great concert season. And it is the latest testament to the Society’s role in creating one of the world’s great early music scenes here in the Bay Area, a mission we continue to pursue through presentations showcasing the finest early music performers on our acclaimed concert series; through our nationally recognized education programs that have opened the world of early music to thousands of adults and children and helped train the next generation of artists; and through service to the community—our website, newsletter and calendar, our Affiliates Program.
Please come early for prosecco and other refreshments, as well as a chance to socialize with members of the board and early music friends. The Members Meeting will be followed by the year’s first Board Meeting, from 8:30–9-30 p.m.
As you know, the Member’s Meeting is one of the most important meetings of the year. We will nominate and elect new SFEMS board members, and at the Board Meeting that immediately follows we will nominate and elect this year’s Officers. Highlights of the Members’ Meeting will be President Robert Cole’s annual report, report on our Affiliates program, nomination and election of new Directors, and an open forum for presentation of members’ ideas and concerns.
Please attend if you can. Or if you cannot, please consider nominating someone who shares the goals of SFEMS and can help us to realize those goals. If you have any questions about this process or, if you or someone you know would like to serve on the SFEMS board, please contact Robert Cole <[email protected]>.
Looking to the future, we need your input and participation more than ever, to sustain and extend the Society’s mission during these challenging times. All are welcome. Help shape the future of SFEMS.
