There’s a Telemann for that!
This summer, we’ll use the music of Telemann as our home base, and also take several journeys to complete our tour: musical influences and repertories earlier in the 17th Century, professional and amateur music scenes in Leipzig, and music of Telemann’s inner and outer circle of influence, including his BFFs, JS Bach and GF Handel. So this summer, no matter what you play, or where you’re at… there’s a Telemann for that.
The Baroque Workshop will feature both small and large ensemble instruction, private and group lessons, sight-reading and skill building classes, and baroque dance sessions. Just like Telemann, we welcome singers and instrumentalists of all kinds: all vocal types, strings (both violin and viol families), winds, brass, singers, keyboardists and pluckers.
Returning this year: The Baroque Workshop Choir is back! Come explore a motet co-written by both Bach AND Telemann as well as Bach’s summer cantatas and music of the earlier 17th century. The workshop will feature both a cappella music and collaborations with the baroque orchestra.
This year we will add a Baroque Workshop Choir to the schedule of classes, exact time slot TBA. Repertoire will be both a cappella and with Baroque orchestra.
Baroque Choir session will also be available à la carte. Tuition $100
To attend this workshop, proof of “up to date” vaccination against COVID-19 will be required. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible.” For additional policies for SFEMS, please visit our COVID-19 protocol page.
Upon registration, please send proof of vaccination (in .pdf or .jpg form) to [email protected].
As the workshops draw nearer, we will make adjustments as pandemic restrictions ebb and flow. We ask for your patience as we navigate these confusing times together.
