St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Third Sunday Concert Series
Derek Tam (harpsichord) and Erik Andersen (baroque cello) offer a concert of Italian Baroque music. In demand as a conductor and historical keyboardist, Derek Tam performs regularly in the Bay Area and elsewhere A founding member and the harpsichordist of MUSA, a San Francisco-based Baroque ensemble, Derek has also served as principal keyboardist for the symphonies of Merced, Modesto, Napa Valley, Santa Rosa, and Santa Cruz. He currently serves as the Director of Music at First Congregational Church of Berkeley. He is also Music Director of the Berkeley Community Chorus Chamber Singers. Erik Andersen, newly arrived in the Bay Area, is a graduate of the Aaron Copland School of Music at the City University of New York where he completed studies in modern cello under the direction of Marcy Rosen and additional studies under Iris Jortner, Marta Bedkowska, and in historical performance with Lisa Terry. At home on both the modern and baroque cello as well as viola da gamba, he performs with the San Francisco-based early music ensemble HIP Forum.

Amy Brodo, treble and bass viol; Hallie Pridham, treble and bass viol; Farley Pearce, tenor and bass viol; Roy Whelden, bass viol, perform Renaissance and baroque music for a consort of viols from throughout Europe, including compositions by Charpentier, Susato, Ward, Locke, Boismortier, Jenkins, and Salmone Rossi, heavenly and earthly.
